Map
This map portrays Africa during The Scramble of Africa. During this time period many European nations, such as Great Britain, France, and Germany, imperialized Africa. This is an example of nationalism because when one is extremely proud of his country, that leads to thinking that one's country is superior than other countries. This logic leads to wanting to take over other underdeveloped countries. The Europeans thought they were helping the countries they imperialized due to their extreme loyalty to their country.
Parody
Our parody is based on the song "Awkward" by San Cisco. This song is a back and forth conversation between two people.
Lyrics:
Pride and joy collide
What do you fear?
The mere feeling of not being
Safe drives me to shed hysterical tears
It doesn't seem to be stopping
Why try to hold on to anything at all
We got your message last night
You can call it pride but we call it pain
Da da da da da da da da da...
Loyalty and superiority always beat minorities
They've been winning for years
I wouldn't have gone to protest
If I'd knew that it would turn out this way
Because of the economic crisis
Many have lost faith in democratic governments
That doesn't mean that you have to
